FREE CURRICULUM AND MATH HELP
Academic Assessments: $75.00
Academic Assessments are given at the center. We can assess to see if your child is on grade level in mathematics for grades 1-8 as well as assess their Algebra skills to determine if they are prepared for Algebra 2 or other advanced math classes. Our assessments are based on the goals for the Wake County Standard Course of Study. We also assess Reading skills for grades K-3. Each assessment consists of 2 parent consultations (one prior to working with the child and one after working with the child), one on one assessment of skills with the child, and full written report. Receive $20 off the assessment cost with pre-payment of at least 4 tutoring sessions.
What is different about the Apex Learning Center?
There are a lot of tutoring programs available out there. How do you know the right one to choose?
First, all parents should realized that "knowing" the subject matter and being able to teach the subject are two different things. Many college students will offer their services in tutoring, however, just because they know the content doesn't mean they have the educational knowledge to be able to present the material in just the way your child needs it.
Many children come in for tutoring, not because they aren't smart enough to learn the material, but they are taught by a teacher who doesn't have the ability to adjust her teaching methods to your child's unique learning style. My clients often say, "Why couldn't my teacher just explain it to me that way?"
Our program has tutors that know both the content but also how to approach the content in many different ways to meet the individual needs of your child. We also provide your child with summarized notes, organizational help, and test taking tips so that they can be successful.
We also offer a great deal of flexibility. We do not lock you into one time slot. If you choose to select a single time slot each week, you can but if your child has sports, after school events, or other commitments and needs a flexible schedule, we offer that. You can choose a time slot on the website and schedule your own sessions.
Another benefit to tutoring at The Apex Learning Center is our ability to determine just how much help your child needs. Some students come in and we find that they just need a little help prior to tests to organize their studying to do well on tests. We offer the ability to just get an extra help session prior to testing.
Worried about the cost of tutoring? You can choose a semi-private session at $25 per hour instead of our $45 per hour rate. Your child will work next to another student. The tutor will provide a lesson to your student then give some practice problems, while your child is doing his or her practice problems, the other student will get his or her lesson. This allows your child to get help even when finances are tight. Look for our session marked "Semi-private" to sign up for this option.
About our tutoring programs
The center is open evenings and weekends for private tutoring sessions. Our tutoring rate is $35 per session (45 minutes) for grades K-5 and $45 per session (1 hour) for grades 6-12 and college students. Progress meetings to discuss students progress are $25 for 45 minutes or $20 for 30 minutes.
Restrictions:
Tutors will wait for 15 minutes after the start of your session. If you are unable to attend your session, please contact your tutor. After 15 minutes, you will be billed a $15 no-show fee. If you should arrive late, your session will end at the regularly scheduled time. If you have a pre-paid package, no-shows or sessions cancelled without 48 hours notice are counted as a session.
Dr. Lynne Gregorio oversees all tutoring. She trains the centers tutors and also works individually with some of our students. Dr. Gregorio has worked with children with learning disabilities and different types of learning styles. She is able to help children learn material that they struggle with because she gives them alternate learning strategies that are more consistent with their individual learning styles. She uses creative metaphors, pattern finding, step by step procedures, and organizational strategies to help learners.
