Technology Camp

TECHNOLOGY TRACK-OUT CAMP is perfect for your child who loves to be on the computer.  Campers will learn to create flash animations, stick-figure animation, and will construct their own web page.  See what our students have done at the ALC Student Website.  This camp is for ages 7-12.  Technology camps will be offered again this summer - check back with us.


Art Camp

ART TRACK-OUT CAMP is an opportunity for your child to really learn how to draw.  They will learn from an enthusiastic professional artist who will teach them how to draw.  You will be amazed at how fast your child's drawing skills improve.   Check out our ART PORTFOLIO page to see what some of our students have drawn.

Magic Tree House Camp

(based on the books of Mary Pope Osbourne)

Spend a week reading books from the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osbourne while developing your Language Arts skills and learning the Science or Social Studies concepts behind the books.  This course provides academic enrichment and addresses the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science standards for grades K-3.
 
Day One: Mummies in the Morning:  Read Mummies in the Morning and learn about Ancient Egypt while building Language Arts skills and building content knowledge in Social Studies. 
 
Day Two: Pirates Past Noon: Read Pirates Past Noon and other pirate stories while building Language Arts skills and expanding content knowledge in Social Studies.
 
Day Three: Afternoon on the Amazon:  Read Afternoon on the Amazon and learn about rainforests while building Language Arts skills and expanding content knowledge in Science.
 
Day Four: Midnight on the Moon: Read Midnight on the Moon and learn about the moon, our solar system, space travel, and the international space station while building Language Arts skills and expanding content knowledge in Science.
 
Day Five: Ghost Town at Sundown:  Read Ghost Town at Sundown and learn about the Wild West and westward expansion while building Language Arts skills and expanding content knowledge in Social Studies.
 
Grades K-3

Time: 9:30 am-12:30 pm
Students must have a copy of each day's Magic Tree House book.  They may bring books from home or books will be available for purchase on the first day of class (All five books for $20.)

Writing Camp 

ALL KINDS OF WRITING CAMP allows students to explore a different genre of writing each day while building writing skills and becoming a better writer.  We'll focus on one domain of writing each day--expository, narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and poetry.  Activities will include: skill-building, drafting, revising, editing, publishing, and sharing writing.  Grades 3-6.  Cost $150
