Web page Clinic for the Small Business
Web page Clinics help small business owners create their own webpage and teaches them how to manage it and make changes. Webpages can be created with different tools. The key to your success is your ability to easily manage and update your website. Our goal is to create a site with you that you understand and can manage. We have two options that you can take advantage of:
Googlepages - this is a format that is free and easy to use. Create a professional looking site with images, links, and text. You will be able to edit it with ease. You can use google pages free domain name or purchase a private domain name.
Dreamweaver - this format is the standard for webpages. Dreamweaver is made by Adobe and would have to be purchased by the individual - cost is around $500 to buy the software. Using Dreamweaver is much more complicated but we will show you the basics for setting up a page with links, images, roll-overs, and text. You can even import Flash into your site. The benefits to using Dreamweaver is that you can do more with your site, you can send your basic concept to a professional to enhance, and yet can still edit the basic information yourself.
This site is created using Googlepages. Even with my ability to use Dreamweaver, I find the simple format of using Googlepages easier when I am making constant changes to the site. The choice is up to you but even the individual with very little computer savy, can successfully create and manage their own site.
Webpage clincs are arranged on an individual basis. During the first session, you will meet with us for approximately 1 hour. We will discuss your needs and desires and design the concept of a basic website for you. You will be assigned "homework" to write out in text all your content and find your images to bring to the next session.
During our second session, you will bring with you the written content and images with. We will walk you through putting all your information onto the site and make sure you know how to edit and make changes. If you are working with Googlepages, you should be able to finish your site during this session. This session will last approximately 2 hours.
If you are using Dreamweaver, you will learn most of the steps to start putting content onto your site but will need a third session to help you with the more advanced concepts and make sure you are comfortable editing your pages. This session will last approximately 1.5 hours.
